Nominate Here!!
The Cinematic Consensus Group Membership Nominations can be made by leaving a link to the site you wish to nominate, the reasons for the nomination, and your contact details, in the comment section below, and a site administrator will begin the process of induction. All nominations are public, and will remain in the public domain.
Rules of Nomination:
1 – You cannot nominate your own Blog, nor can you nominate a Blog for a family member.
2 – You must explain why you believe the nominated Blog is worthy of Membership within the Consensus, with details of positive experiences and your connection to it.
3 – The vetting process will take around 7 days to complete, and an announcement (depending on the outcome) will be made on the site at that time. Not every nominated Blog will always become a Member.
4 – A Blog may be nominated multiple times – no Blog, however, can be nominated twice within 12 months by the same person.
5 – Members of the Consensus will make the final decision on whether a Blog will become part of the Consensus.
6 – Upon confirmation of a Blog becoming a Member of the Consensus, the Blog will supply the Consensus with a logo to be used within this site, for promotional purposes, and will also display a Consensus logo on the frontpage of their own site.
I would like to publicly nominate Cinematic Corner [http://cinematiccorner.blogspot.com/] to the Cinematic Consensus Group. Sati has proven to create new and original content while providing a visually pleasing website to view the content on.
Thanks Max. I’ve sent an email to Sati and now we just await her response!
Hi Rodney, you might’ve already invited him but I’d like to nominate Eric from The Warning Sign: http://twscritic.com/ and also Mark: http://mrmarakai.wordpress.com/ Thanks!
Thanks Ruth! Invites sent to the respective nominees – now to sit back and await their responses!!!
The Film Emporium — http://thefilmemporium.blogspot.com/ & A Constant Visual Feast — http://agcrump.wordpress.com/
Both are prolific and quality writers in the field of film criticism — adding healthy and insightful contributions every week. Definitely worthy of inclusion here.
I’ve sent invites to both these guys, Sam! Now I’m just waiting to see what they say!! Thanks man!!
Hi Rodney, now that I’m officially a member I’d like to nominate Jessica over at The Velvet Cafe. She runs a very welcoming site with a personal touch but i’m sure youre already aware of her. Cheers.
We’re sure aware of Jess over there, Mark. Trust me, I’m doing my best to get her on board!!
A couple more nominations:
Alex Withrow’s “And So It Begins” … consistent display of excellence in the field of film criticism, along with clear skills as a filmmaker. http://www.andsoitbeginsfilms.com/
John Larue’s “The Droid You’re Looking For” … humor writer with a whole lot of intellect and knowledge of the medium. Well designed site with some of the best graphic work as well.
http://tdylf.com/
Bonjour Tristesse … no site that covers independent and foreign cinema better. http://www.bonjourtristesse.net/
Thanks Sam! I’m currently working on Bonjour – he’s had a few suggestions to improve and accentuate the site and concept, but he’s still not quite on board just yet.
You’ll see I added the Earrings vid from And So It Begins this evening in a special post, and I’ll send out an invite very shortly. As for TDYLF, I’ve had him in my sights for a while, but wasn’t sure if his site would fit into the mold of what we’re trying to accomplish. But I think you’re right – he’s got some hell funny stuff over there and it’d be a shame not to add that to our roster of Members.
Cheers dude!!
I could see if we invite too many other writers from that other movie blog network that we wouldn’t be differentiating ourselves enough. Hopefully we keep that in mind while we bolster our collaborative of fine writers.
I’m not sure I know what you mean “other movie blog network” Max? I chose 4 or 5 of the best sites I know — all of whom I’m friends with, and mentioned them.
If we want to have a true nomination process then we should create a board of executive members that make these executive decisions.
The nomination and voting process is undergoing review as I write this. I’ve been considering over the last few days how to really make this voting process idea a workable thing, but all I can see is a whole bunch of emails going back and forth about it, making more work for me to sort out. I think an “executive” group who make the decisions needed is a good idea, and I think one worth considering. Thanks Sam. (would you be keen on that role?)
I’m happy for LAMB members to be a part of our group, but the specific aim of this group is to be more exclusive. Thus far, all the blogs and sites nominated have met the criteria for inclusion, so on that level, we’re traveling well. However, if somebody wants to nominate a blog which is not a LAMB, then that would be equally as exciting. The LAMB has a good couple of thousand blogs in its roster – we only have a dozen or so at the moment, so we’re a long way off even being compared to those guys… thankfully. I don’t want this to become a LAMB kind of site, I think we’re better than that in many ways. Trouble is, we’re always going to have a mix of LAMB and non-LAMB members regardless; it’s how we market ourselves as a group where we need to be different and unique.
I’d be on the committee to help out. yes.
I understand what you’re doing — and realize that I’ve only nominated the bests of the best from the LAMB community — both in the quality of writing and the aesthetic of the site.
Which is why someone like Tyler of The Southern Vision is worthy of a nomination — http://magnoliaforever.wordpress.com/ –
But yes, we should search for sites that aren’t on the LAMB.
Well now that we’ve mentioned it, that’s what I meant Sam. I didn’t want to just nominate everyone who is a LAMB. There are a couple of people in that network I’d like to include here as well. I was just afraid of it becoming too much like that group. I’m glad Rodney shares the same sentiment as I do.
I’d like to nominate Terrence from http://thefocusedfilmographer.com/ He’s quite a prolific blogger with a great variety of posts and reviews. I’m not sure if he’s a LAMB member or not but I think he’d be worth including in CCG as he’s got some original content and fun blog series, so his blog definitely meets the membership requirements
He he…. waaaay ahead of you Ruth! He’s now a Member!!
and I must say that I am very very glad to be a part. and thank you both Ruth and Rodney!
I would like to nominate Darren of The M0vie Blog. His thorough research and relevant pieces are always an entertaining and enlightening read.
Are we, as a group, going to put out a collective “Best/Favorite films of the year” … similar to what the OFCS and other critical societies do?
My nomination for membership is Justin at http://todayiwatchedamovie.com/
Justin has not only continually brought entertaining movie reviews to the web (mixture of new releases and past films), he has also brought unique looks at different aspects of each film.
A different “to the point” review posts every single day.
Also runs a few events from time to time encouraging community interaction and involves himself with other blogger’s pages in the blogosphere.
Please consider welcoming Justin at TIWAM into the CCG!
-Terrence
I would like to nominate FILMHISPTER @ http://filmhipster.com/
If you’re not familiar with his site – it’s very good looking, fun, short but sweet and one of my favorite things to read each day.
